Q&A with Director of Online Learning Andrew Pack
Get to know Andrew Pack, 暗网禁区's director of online learning. Andrew earned his ThM at Western and his EdD at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. We sat down with him this fall to ask him some questions about his background, his interests and his excitement for joining the Western faculty.
Where are you from?
Bellingham, Washington, is home. However, I spent听most of my adult life and ministry career in Seattle proper.
Family?听
I am married to Tanya and we have six wonderful kids听and one boxer.
Do you have a favorite class or one you鈥檙e especially looking听forward to teaching?
I love teaching anything where our theology informs the practical outworking of our life and ministry practice. I鈥檓 teaching听Hermeneutics and Biblical Theology for the Bay Area Cohort and we听have experienced a lot of praxis in that learning community. I am a听huge fan of teaching Christian spirituality and biblical theology type听classes because at their core these courses are about understanding听what Jesus is doing in history and what it means to live in His reality.
What do you do outside of work (hobbies, interests)?
My family and I love getting outside in the Northwest. We mill听our own wheat and grow a number of fermented foods on our听countertop (e.g., sourdough, kombucha, yogurt, sauerkraut). I听play experimental electric guitar.
What鈥檚 your church involvement / ministry experience?
I have been in ministry in the Pacific Northwest for almost 15听years. I have primarily served in preaching/teaching, discipleship,听missiology, and church planting ministries. I have both planted听churches and lead church planting ministries. Training church听planters has been one of the great joys of my ministry life.
What are you most excited for at Western?
I am thrilled to give access to theological education focused听on gospel-centered transformation to people around the听Northwest and the world. As the Director of Online Learning,听I love thinking through creative ways to connect students to听their faculty and to each other. I love coming alongside students听where Jesus has already sent them and help them grow on their听ministry journey.
